Translation: We had to secure mobile childcare.
Oh, and we HAD to go to NYC for the weekend, and we HAD to leave our kids to get all fancied up and party like we were still rockin' the Rockville years.
So, we called on a willing niece to let us fly her east. Dear girl, she gave up an extended weekend with hot single men, to fly to DC, to spend the weekend in NYC. I actually don't think there was anything about the arrangement that wasn't pretty much awesome, for both sides!
So we enjoyed a very new NYC experience with two kids and a teenage (technically...she's 19) niece.
And...
We loved it! We found the city very friendly to a double-wide stroller. Actually, the city was so much more accessible in terms of the populace. Kids bring people together--moms exchange knowing and sympathetic smiles, dads knowingly fling the 'hey, man! i'm a dad too!' nod at each other. Ages, frustrations, and humor are shared in seconds flat. New friends are made and then departed.
