h thought that mr. j's mom was called buelobuela.
when e was born, we had lofty plans of trilingualism. we hit the languages hard from day one with e. her first words were mixes of all three languages. we haven't abandoned these goals, but the intensity of the russian and spanish language use has definitely dwindled. so, e knows mr. j's parents as buelo and buela (her nicknames for abuelo and abuela, Spanish for grandmother and grandfather). so when they came to visit in october, h tried out her new verbal skills.at first gma sherri was buelobuela. gndpa was nothing. then she got the concept that he had a name too. by the end of the visit, she had figured out that gndpa was a distinct and named person, 'buelo,' but gma sherri, officially became 'buelabuela'. i love her repetitive enthusiasm as she explains who gave her socks, candy, undies, stickers, clothes... BUELABUELA! :)
smiles miles wide over here.
the visit was amazing. some really critical projects were accomplished on the property and we were able to experience a bit of the natural majesty that this beehive state offers. i think buela's favorite was lunch at sundance ski resort, and the alpine loop drive. sundance is nestled into the backside of timpanogos mountain. the colors were still beautiful and the day was clear for uninterrupted visions of mountain ranges repeating into all horizons. buelo's was building a gate and dreaming up a portico concept for our side "back" door. we were so glad to have them and spend time together. love fest.
an early buelo concept of portico.
thanksgiving point ice cream. a favorite in our home! free cones for the little ones and that big one is $2.50!?!
