Reflections of Nauvoo

My sister in law coined it best, 'I felt a call to be better, no guilt, just an inviting call.' And we have all answered. Every two years my six siblings and I and our spouses and our kids who can make it (now up to 27, plus 3 spouses and 2 great grand kids) all gather together to have fun and enjoy each other. This year we travelled from TX and UT and met in IL. We learned about the early LDS members and their lives in the late 1830s through the 1840s. We were entertained by full-time senior and youthful missionaries through song, dance, stories, tours and demonstations. We listened and learned how a group of people lived for their beliefs and left an Eden city, built in just 6.5 years, to find a place where they could live unmolested by misunderstanding mobs. When you come face to face with mighty people, the awe you can feel
either intimidates or inspires. Ours was the latter. We drove there and are driving back as you read this, so there has been plenty of time to talk and redirect our family's course in life. There is a lot of peace and assurance in this new course. What a wonderful vacation with my favorite people!
