Headband Down!

This winter I tried my hand at knitting. I ended up making some projects that didn't work out, and then used them to knit something else worthy of gifting/being worn. But no worries, it released mom-stress, gave me a sense of productivity at the end of each day, and developed new skills.

My longest on-going project was knitting headbands for my girls. I started WELL before Christmas and ended in January. I was so pleased with the result.

Here are a few pictures (again from the phone camera, so not that terrific in quality):

So, sadly I finish this post relating the tale of e's headband. It was her birthday. We dressed up in our child-finest and went to the grocery store for supplies: wax paper, baking spray, and anything else that caught our eyes. About 10 minutes into the venture, I noticed that e's headband was not on her head anymore. We ran around the store and the parking lot asking everyone we saw, checking in with the customer service desk--no one had seen anything, knew anything, returned anything. I called the store for a week afterward. Just in case. Nothing.

I still get a little sick to my stomach when I drive by that grocery store. One of those few things that just thinking about it makes me so sad I want to cry...just a little cry.

h still has hers and I love accessorizing her with something I spent hours making--something I designed and created. And it makes me a little sad.

So in an effort to let it go and move on, I use e's phraseology:
Headband, Down!
