So, last night we celebrated Big Daddy Day (World Wide Edition)...AKA, Jay's birthday. Things went on as normally as they would any other night, despite the emotions that should have been present knowing that people you love, all around the world were celebrating your best friend's birthday who passed away two years ago. We had a grand time, eating big daddy's, playing with Emmeline, pretending Hazel could eat one. We even read the book Jay gave to e when she was born as a bed time story.
It wasn't until today that things settled in a bit. I was looking at all of the pictures from friends worldwide, and what we were doing finally hit home. Its hard for me sometimes to remember that I've lost him because I'm so sure that I'll see him again; we'll hang out, talk about years past, and probably say things we always wanted to say but didn't. Then we'll check in periodically like best friends do, and that'll be the way of it, forever.
I love everyone who is taking the time to enjoy his memories. I love them because they love Jay and because they help me not to loose the memories myself. So, thank you everyone who loves, for helping me...and happy birthday Jay.
I think about that book a lot. Seeing Emi with it really shows that even though the girls really never got to know Jay (Anna never got to meet him), that they will know of his love through the gifts he left behind.
ReplyDeleteI love that. Thanks for posting this and all the pictures. You inspired my post :) Remembering Jay always brings such sweet memories
