There are some things that are just worth the 'from scratch' effort NO matter what your life situation is.
Why is it that we make some of our favorite dishes only once or twice a year?
My dearest j asked me to make these rolls again, but roll hot dogs in them before I let them rise so we could enjoy pigs in a blanket. Hilarious. And, yes, I will be making them tomorrow.
Mom, thank you for never finding yourself too tired to make these rolls every Thanksgiving as we grew up. I am so happy that my little family has fallen for them as well.
Oh man I could go for a pig in a blanket right now.

Mom brought some up from Houston last Friday for us. Unfortunately, Daron forgot to remind me and I was already overwhelmed and (yikes) bought rolls from Costco. Everything else was homemade, though! I think we make special recipes only occasionally because that's what makes them special. If we made them all the time, they wouldn't have the honor of being singled out for special holidays. Just a thought.
ReplyDeleteThose little piggies look so cute all over your table. Look how Hazel has grown already! And what a cute big sis-is she always a good big sister?
ReplyDeleteif the recipe is not a secret! i would love it. scott loves homemade rolls -- but i never make them!
ReplyDeleterecipe definitely NOT a secret! i don't believe in that--good food should be shared with everyone. period. what kind of person doesn't want their fellow humans eating and enjoying to the fullest? i will post the recipe on the blog this week.
ReplyDeletee is a good big sister most of the time. she has adjusted really well and loves hazel very much. my favorite is how often she says 'hi hazel' and when she plays peek-a-boo with her. hazel adores e. the moment she hears her, she stops everything and looks wildly around.
heather, in my book costco is next to cleanliness, and we know what cleanliness is next to...don't beat yourself up over that.
